The purpose and mission of Memorial Baptist Church is to build the family of Jesus Christ by equipping followers who serve in the church and proclaim the truth of God so that all people will love and glorify Him.

Memorial Baptist Church has been a lighthouse for the gospel in the heart of the community of Verona since 1855. We built our first building in 1860 and our present building in 1891. But our church is more than a building. We’re a community of believers who meet together to worship the Lord and encourage one another to become fully devoted followers of Christ capable of reaching our community and the world for Jesus Christ. Memorial is an independent Baptist church in voluntary fellowship with the Wisconsin Association of Regular Baptist Churches (WARBC) and the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC).

A detailed copy of our “Articles of Faith” is available upon request; the fundamentals of our faith may be summarized as follows:
  ♦ Inspiration and Authority of Scripture – God authored the entire Bible – every word of it and every part of it (2 Timothy 3:16).
  ♦ Deity of Jesus Christ – He is fully God and fully man. He has always existed as God, and will always be God (I John 1:1; John 20:31).
  ♦ Christ’s Virgin Birth – Jesus was born of the virgin Mary (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1) and was sinless (Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22).
  ♦ Christ’s Blood Atonement for Sin – Jesus shed His blood as the payment for our sins. Without the shedding of His blood, there is no remission of sin (Hebrews 9:14-28).
  ♦ Christ’s Bodily Resurrection – Jesus arose bodily from the grave, triumphing over death, assuring believers of their future resurrection (I Corinthians 15:1-20).
  ♦ Christ’s Personal Return – Jesus assured His disciples that He will come again (John 14:1-3).

We believe that membership in a local church is an important commitment that a Christian makes to a local body of believers. The local church provides a framework for growth, accountability and service—a place to lock arms together and do the work of the ministry…together.

Requirements for Membership
1.Evidence of salvation by a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
2.Baptism by immersion as a public testimony and identification with Christ.
3.Completion of the Base 1 Discipleship seminar, a 10-week class scheduled during the 9 am discipleship hour (offered once or twice per year).
4.Willingness to abide by the doctrinal statement and covenant of the church.
5.Commitment to active participation and service in the church.
